Applied Scientific Research and Innovation in the tourism industry is one of the basic pillars of the functioning of the Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation (DTMR). Drafting plans for the development of sustainable tourism, management plans, innovation, professional consulting, project implementation and organization of scientific events by the department, are some of the objectives of the department, which demonstrate applied research and innovation in tourism, hospitality and recreation.

The Department of Behavioral and Health Sciences conducts its scientific research activity in the fields of Psychology and Social Work as well as similar or intertwined disciplines. In line with the vision and strategic objectives, priorities in the field of research have been set in several key research directions. In the field of psychology, scientific research focuses on issues of school psychology, development and health, aiming to produce a scientific research that is in line with the study programs offered by the department, and enables the involvement of students in research work, especially at Scientific Master. Some of the research interests in the field of psychology include; Depression and anxiety in adolescence, Health behaviors / drugs abuse / addiction, motivation and academic achievement, Mental health in post - Covid society, etc.
In the field of social work, scientific research focuses on social welfare policies and services in the education or health system, as well as social work with the individual, family or group. Scientific research focuses on understanding and addressing some of the most essential social problems of Albanian society such as poverty, unemployment, blood feuds, human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual abuse, etc. For this purpose, our researchers using quantitative and qualitative research methods tend to identify and highlight the real experiences of individuals, groups and communities in Albania. Research priorities include: Effectiveness of policies and social services, women employment/ women discriminationin the labor market, Child Welfare, Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse, etc.
The Department of Behavioral and Health Sciences supports the research work of lecturers through the organization of the annual Conference of the Department, as well as promotes the involvement of students in research work through the Inter-Student Conference. In addition to these annual activities, the institution organizes a series of activities,such as trainings, round tables, which enable the expansion of the network, and the creation of research groups beyond the institution with colleagues and professionals in Albaniaand abroad.

Its objectives are:
1. The study of the impact of physical activity on the health of exercisers of all ages, aiming to highlight the importance and values that this activity has for the population involved.
2. The study of elite sport in its technical, organizational, financial and legal components.
3. Design of modern syllabi and rewording lectures in each subject of bachelor and master curricula.
4. Approximation of our curriculum with the real needs of the physical education and sports market. This complex process requires a serious and constant study and observation.
5. Barleti transformation into a laboratory where the latest research in sports and physical activity are applied.

Research is an essential part of the Department of Professional Education and Training Sciences. (DSHETP) It is developed through projects and has mainly an applied nature. The research is conducted in cooperation with universities inside and out of the country, with donor organizations that enable the studies and in particular, support for data collection in various fields related to education. Research campaigns are related to curriculum enrichment, teaching and learning methodologies, cross-curricular + extracurricular skills, education management, children with disabilities, ICT in education, children's rights, evaluation and self-evaluation in education, adult training , STEAM, etc.
